Review of TransSiberian (2008) by Juliana B — 27 Mar 2011
The only reason that I gave this movie 4 stars is because it was a thriller that started off slow but speeds up and really got me riveted near the end. For that reason alone, I think it get the 4 stars.
Yes, the story is completely ridiculous and unbelievable but that doesn't matter because at the end you are rooting for the good guys, a young American couple who are being targeted as drug smugglers along the Transsiberian Railroad. Harrelson is an unbelievable hokey Mid-Western good-two shoes who always sees the glass half full instead of half empty. His wife is a bad girl that he has converted into a good girl. I don't need to get into the whole plot since it is written here. I think the role of the girlfriend is more complex and believable.
So, really not much to say except the following:
Unbelievable Thriller Plot.
Good scenery.
Ben Kingsley does a horrible job with his faux Russian accent.
Good killing scene. I was happy to see the victim get killed.
Exciting, edge of your seat fun.
Worthy of renting.
It's just simple fun.
