Review of Transporter 3 (2008) by Carl N — 11 Jan 2010
This mediocre lacklustre third instalment is surely the nail in the coffin for the Transporter series. As ridiculous as the first two were, at least they were entertaining and had plots that weren't totally implausible.
The ransom scenario used in this doesn't even call for Frank Martin to really transport anything? Why did the bad guys need him? They could have saved a lot of time, effort and money just keeping the girl in a room? I like Jason Statham a lot and ordinarily enjoy his films.
But even he looked tired and fed up in this. The fight scenes seemed to be just excuse for him to take his top off. I'm also glad that I don't suffer from Epilepsy because the cuts in the fight scenes are a joke.
They were cut so fast and so many times I couldn't see what was going on. Finally we get to the lead actress Natalya Rudakova. She is given no characterization and has no sexual chemistry with Statham at all.
She bugged the hell out of me. I just wanted Statham to give her a slap. What a terrible casting choice. Even the normally outstanding driving sequences I've come to expect from a Transporter film are reduced to badly speeded-up wacky race style run of the mill dross.
I recommend sticking with parts one and two.
