Review of Transporter 3 (2008) by Steve N — 24 Jan 2011
A dull third entry in a series experiencing a quality free-fall from a surprisingly entertaining first film. Jason Statham remains a solid action star but he's powerless to do much with a story that's actually not a bad concept but limp in execution.
Director Olivier Megaton (really?) seems to have limited his preparation to the first two movies, so the finished product has a pale, inbred quality to it that lacks innovation and inspiration. Natalya Rudakova is producer Luc Besson's latest European ingenue (actually discovered on the streets of New York City) and she's actually passable.
Her unconventional look can be distracting, however; the blizzard of freckles on her face and black holes where her eyes should be are like moles to Austin Powers -- impossible to ignore (mole!). Still, when she turns on the pheromones and makes undead eyes at Statham, it can be a sexual sight to behold.
Even the martial arts choreography is paint-by-numbers.
