Review of Transporter 2 (2005) by Tyler M — 31 Mar 2012
Better than the first?
It's one of those few times when the sequel is better than the first...But that's not really saying a lot.
The Story: Here's the basics: a young boy is kidnapped and infected with an untraceable virus, and it's up to the transporter, Frank Martin, to save him and stop the deadly virus from spreading nation wide. It's stylish, more so than the first and this time around the style sticks with the film until the end. The fight scenes have been improved, but the action is still standard and unrealistic. Also it sells sex like no other. I suppose it's to be expected for a film of this nature, but it's just not my thing.
The Cast: Jason Statham...Yep, he's the only reason you're gonna really care about this movie. He looks like a bad-ass. And well, he is a bad-ass. But here, he plays the action hero, and not much more. It's not an amazing performance, but it's not bad either. He was cast well, and plays the part good, not bad, not great... Good... As for everyone else, it's hit or miss, with some good acting here and there, and some poor dialogue here and there. Don't expect a lot of Oscar caliber performances from this bunch... IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FIRST ONE! The only difference is this one has some really bad child acting.
One to Five Scale: 3.
It's been improved...Not by a lot, it's still pretty silly even for an action flick, but it's target audience is bound to enjoy it either way. It delivers the action, it delivers the sex appeal, it just fails to deliver on anything that could be considered substance. If you like the first you'll no doubt like this one. If you don't like the first than this one will be hit or miss. Give it a try if you can't find anything else to watch.
Tyler.
