Review of Transit (2012) by John M — 12 Sep 2012
Reasonably well made for something you have never heard of. So this is about an unsuspecting family on vacation that are used as mules for some robbers to get their loot past a roadblock, and while that goes off without a hitch, the same cannot be said for the retrieval of the money.
This is a pretty standard story of criminals vs. innocent bystanders, with a marginal amount of depth added to it. I like Jim Caviezel, and he does elevate this movie to being better than it would be without him (random side note: he looks like he could be a doppelganger for Christian Bale the entire movie).
It is always engaging, and he plays a large part in why that's the case. That said, this movie doesn't do anything new or add anything to the genre; it is derivative, even though it is always watchable.
As it approaches the third act, it gets sloppy in a number of different spots, breaking its good track record up until that point. If you rent this, you probably won't be disappointed for investing ninety minutes of your time in it.
