Overlong, but that is the curse of the summer blockbuster. Ignoring the racial stereotyping Chevrolet Spark twins Skids and Mudflap, Transformers 2 is full of great set-pieces but is bloated by a focus on occasionally inappropriate human drama and uneven tone.
Bay knows this is a franchise with cross generation appeal but isn't a sophisticated enough filmmaker to address that with creative subtlety (Whedon, Gunn, Burton have all managed this). Children will find it fun but not follow the plot while adults will love the action or groan at the cliches.
