Review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) by Brandon W — 12 Jan 2015
We all have to admit that Transformers: Dark of the Moon is better than the second movie, but whether or not it is a good movie is up to the viewers. The film is all right, but it's not a good movie for me.
The effects are still great, the fights are good, and the soundtrack is catchy to listen to. The plot is not that different from the previous films, and the script doesn't even try to develop the villains as people who have never see the shows, wouldn't know anything about Shockwave, and other characters like Mirage and Carly.
The acting is eh, except for the transformers which they are always great in it. The most interesting character in it besides the transformers, is Patrick Dempsey. Even though there wasn't any humor in it that made me groan like the second, I surprisingly did not laugh once.
The runtime is too long like the second movie, and some scenes in it are pointless and can just be cut out of the movie. Some deaths in it either goes by too fast, or just embarrassing. The chemistry between Sam and Carly is just pointless, the absence of Mikaela could've been effective for Sam and develop him more, but that idea is thrown out the window as there's only like 2 lines in it for that character.
The main character was more mean-spirited in this than any of the other films which kinda doesn't make me root for him a bit more here. With all the flaws here, I wasn't mad at it, but I'm disappointed that it could've been better with a better script, or a different writer.
