Better than the second one, but not as good as the first. This movie is fairly dark in the "Earth subjugation" theme and the historical references to discovery of the alien sentient robots in the past, which the government covered up.
Definitely watchable, but not the best of the bunch. Go watch Pacific Rim instead.
