Review of Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) by Danny O — 08 Aug 2015
Transformers 4 is an exhausting movie. At nearly 3 hours, the bloated runtime is the film's biggest flaw. An hour and a half could have easily been cut. For the first hour and a half, nothing too crazy happened, and the movie was watchable.
Then the film drags on for an eternal minutes. The action becomes very boring as we move past the two hour mark, and so many things are happening, the narrative had completely lost focus. Mark Wahlberg and Stan Tucci provide the only talent in the cast, and even they can not save this bloated film.
The dinobots, so prominently advertised, only show up for about ten minutes, and feel like more of an afterthought. Worst of all, most of the film maintains a been there done that feel. The humor was obnoxious and predictable.
I was extremely disappointed, and left the theater with quite the headache. Transformers: Age of Extinction gets 1/5 stars (D-).
