Review of Transcendence (2014) by Bill D — 17 Aug 2014
For much of the screen time of Transcendence, Johnny Depp plays a person inhabiting a computer. Unfortunately, for pretty much all of the screen time of Transcendence, director Wally Pfister has the actors play like computers.
Transcendence has the germ of a clever plot line, but executes it poorly. The screenplay fails to allow a viewer to empathize with any character, fails to build any dramatic tension, and goes nowhere.
Transcendence is a pathetic waste of talent.
