Review of Transcendence (2014) by Dan F — 06 Sep 2014
I actually rather enjoyed Transcendence, Wally Pfister directed it so its going to be a good-looking film no matter what. The science of it though escalates into absurdity, and while the initial Twilight Zone-esque horror of the concept of technology being given beyond human intelligence is an intriguing- if played out- notion, it soon transpires that the film wants to surprise you with its choice of direction and fully embrace humanity as a cause.
The anti technology terrorist group is ridiculous though, but Paul Bettany tries his best to inject the proceedings with sincerity, even if what starts a a genuinely thought provoking concept quickly descends into to utter bollocks.
