Review of Transcendence (2014) by Richard Y — 08 Apr 2015
Transcendence is movie built off poor foundations. The script and story, although intriguing, leave plenty of room for improvement, as many flaws and plots are revealed throughout. For a sham like this, it payed too bring on a large cast, as they become the main feature of this floppy story.
For what is sold as a pragmatic system of artificial intelligence, potentially making the world a better place, a revolutionary cliche is put in place to counter it and vilify it. Manipulated to believe the trope; "technology bad, nature good", it is a struggle to see the main "villain" as that, considering the lengths it improves other's lives.
Regardless, the story becomes far too convoluted and beyond belief, and loses itself in the last 30 minutes, losing all credibility.
