Review of Transcendence (2014) by Julie T — 08 Aug 2015
I was looking forward to seeing this, and I'm not saying it was a waste of a few hours, but it got a bit strange and the really interesting film it could have been isn't there. Will Caster manages to download his personality and intelligence ( his humanity if you prefer ) into the web, making the internet into the biggest threat to human life that has ever been.
The answer ? Well pretty obvious, switch it off ! ( you were there before me) , however the movie about what happens when you switch off every computer in the world ( in other worlds trying to go back to 1976 ish) isn't explored at all.
It's one thing being brought up in a preinternet age surly quite another to revert to an Internet free society , there's the film you want to see, but this isn't it.
