Review of Transcendence (2014) by Sugarfall S — 21 Aug 2014
Unfortunately for Depp his first real BOMB and rightly so. LUCY is what this movie should have been and it is simply perfection. It proves even Depps reputation and excellence and well-deserved and well-earned clout cannot save a story that spends no time considering the viewer and audience. It reminds me of the scene from PURPLE RAIN where the club owner tells him "the only person who understands your music is you". This writer and director simply had no grasp of how boring and insignificant everything they were doing was.
No one ever cared about anyone in this movie.
If this movie did anything it ratified how detached technology does make us from caring about anything by caring less about this movie it's story and it's characters than we care about our computers themselves.
It's a timely and even futuristic movie about apathy it's impossible to care about.
