Review of Transcendence (2014) by Serge L — 08 Jun 2015
Transcendence is just boring. The special effects are pretty cool and I get that director Wally Pfister is trying to make a statement on human technological advancement and all, but the movie is deeply unsatisfying.
The Paul Bettany voiceover feels forced and Johnny Depp is useless as the lead. He plays a character we hardly get to know because (SPOILER) he gets killed, but then when his soul or what not goes into the computer we're supposed to treat him like he's the most fascinating man ever.
He's not. He's just dull. It's like we're just supposed to care about him because, well, he's played by Johnny Depp....
