Review of Transamerica (2005) by Lauren D — 22 Mar 2008
Enjoyable unconventional road-trip comedy-drama. Dysfunctional families, people and relationships abound (Bree's mother is pure genius) and Felicity Huffman is truly convincing as a transsexual woman as well.
Bree fights for acceptance from all, desperate to be a conventional woman and the very epitomy of conservatism. Her relationship with her son teeters between typical "eat your vegetables" maternal behaviour and wildly weird WTF moments! Best line is "What is your relationship with the missing person ma'am?" .
.."I'm his...father". Classic.
