Review of Transamerica (2005) by Sander H — 21 Oct 2009
Beautiful film.
Huffman and Zegers played very well and convincingly with each other. Also Grant Monohon ( the hippi hitchhiker) played his part hilariously well.
The way this film comes off to me is a film about change and acceptance of that change. Changing terrain, changing bodies and changing minds/prejudices all occur as the two characters traverse the countryside.
Bree learns the value of being a mother while Toby learns to accept Bree for who she is and wants to become, while finding his own place in the film-making world. as well, Bree's parents, and sister especially, finally accept her for who she is ( the mother is quite the annoying bitch however [treats the kid like her dog]).
All in all an amazing film; I'm very happy it was made. ^_^.
