Review of Transamerica (2005) by Darren B — 04 May 2012
NOTE: This movie was made BEFORE Felicity Huffman became a 'Desperate Housewife' so please acknowledge that she really knows how to act. Transamerica will go down as my 2nd favorite "Road" movie (the first is 'The Adventures of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert').
The dialogue, story line, acting, commentary, all of it, is done so well, that you actually miss the road movie part of it, and really begin to experience the movie for its story of survival, growth, and transformation.
Even if you are a homophobic, gender phobic, or specifically trans phobic, you should see this movie. At the very least, it will open a window into a different type of world that you may not like, but one that exists, nonetheless.
