Danny Boyle's direction is stylish and visually appealing but this film is not nearly as clever as it thinks it is. There were so many instances where something weird or out-of-place would randomly be shown to us and I'd think, "Oh, this will probably be explained when the twist happens.
" That's never a good sign. A good twist shouldn't be drawing attention to itself.
