Review of Trance (2013) by Baurushan J — 23 Dec 2013
The story is about a fine art auctioneer named Simon played by James McAvoy who teams up with a criminal gang lead by Frank played by Vincent Cassel to steal a Goya painting but when he takes a blow to the head, he wakes up to find out that he has no memory.
When physical threats and torture fail to produce answers, they both hire hypnotherapist Dr.Elizabeth Lamb played by Rosario Dawson to delve into Simon's psyche. As she begins to unravels his broken subconscious, the truth begins to blur.
Director Danny Boyle who is most noticeable for focusing on his story and characters in his movie which is seemingly why I noticed that the characters are strongly written and the story is stylish as ever.
Simon and Frank do not play the cliche hero-and-villain game. Instead they want you to guess who is innocent and who is evil throughout the film which is pretty much the movie. Trance gets a 8.25/10.
