The stand out in Traitor is without a doubt Guy Pearce. He played a very chic role as a cosmopolitan FBI agent that never lost his cool while unrelenting in his pursuit of his suspect (did I mention that Pearce is a Geelong boy- my home town?).

Cheadle was rather lack-luster. An ex-SF soldier in the US Army, I'm guessing if he was in Afghan in the 80s he was a Green Beret. I would have expected more self-confidence from a person of that background, which he did not display.

The part that knocked half a star off my rating was the climactic twist. I laughed so hard for about a minute after this happened- while the film continues expecting believability. But it was a difficult scenario to bring to an obligatory happy ending.

I think they should have gone with a more realistic ending, and have let the deed be done (terrible though it would have been- it was just a film remember- and dealt with the aftermath finishing in the perhaps Russian novelist flavour using a tragic ending- reality can be a bitter pill after all, when the good guys don't always win).
