Review of Traitor (2008) by Charlie L — 28 Mar 2009
Lucid and watchable artifact of the War on Terror... set against TV's often reactionary "24", Nachmanoff's thriller is altogether considered in its twisty plotting and knotty politics, at least until a bomb-on-a-bus finale that requires Cheadle to perform one comically ingenious feat; still, it's a rare American feature to approach its protagonist's faith seriously - someone on the writing side has clearly read the Koran, rather than merely looked it up on Wikipedia - and there's pleasure to be had watching fine actors (not just Cheadle, but Pearce, Panjabi, Daniels and Neal McDonough) mulling over the light-heavyweight material.
