Review of Traitor (2008) by Richard H — 22 Sep 2009
A brilliant insight into the world of the suicide bomber. Traitor is one of the most original, interesting and exhilarating thrillers of the year. I found myself pulled into the movie right beside Don Cheadle's character as he gets mixed up in both the world of international terrorism and that of American counter terrorism.
Guy Pearce is remarkable as the hotshot FBI Agent who is unsure of whether to consider Cheadle an asset or a target. Said Taghmaoui and Jeff Daniels are exceptional in their supporting roles but it is Cheadle who steals the spotlight as Samir Horn, a man conflicted between his religious beliefs and what the Islamic Brotherhood considering their duty to God.
The movie, itself, is deep undercover in the world of terrorism, almost documentary-like, and for this, Traitor breaks the mould and establishes itself as one of the best terrorism thrillers.
