Review of Traitor (2008) by Ana B — 28 Feb 2010
Good thriller with the war on terror as a background.
The film follows the steps of Samir, a muslim spy infiltrated in a muslim terrorist cell. He's such a secret that even the FBI is unaware of his status as a double agent.
The movie has the predictable twists and turns and portrays well the sort of moral dilemmas Samir faces to reach the top of his cell.
It is refreshing to finally find a movie where not all muslims are terrorists and where Islam is not a mere excuse to label the baddies, sadly this comes in very small doses. I would have liked to see more of the people that chooses not to fight.
One well accomplished feature is the locations. The action develops in several cities across three different continents. They are realistic and truthful, from sunshine lit Africa, to crowded Europe passing by a hectic and vast USA.
