I had high hopes for this one, and was looking for Apatow to redeem himself after 2 failed films back to back. The first hour was nothing short of fantastic, the jokes landed and it kept me in stitches constantly.
The whole cast turned in great comedic performances with cameos from john cena and Lebron James providing some laughs. Then the movie took a turn for the worst and started to play out like the typical romantic comedies it was rebelling against in the first place.
It had the most formulaic ending of any rom-com and left me feeling cheated. Amy Schumer looked to have a winner, but couldn't stay out of those pesky cliched tropes.
