Review of Trainwreck (2015) by Dragonsfoe . — 02 May 2016
I guess you can say it's not a __________.
Trainwreck is not its title suggests. It does not reinvent the wheel but it is benefitted by its great cast, writing, and it's more dramatic scenarios.
It is undeniable that Schumer and Hader have great chemistry. It is also undeniable that James is surprising from an acting standpoint and it is also undeniable that Schumer is one of the biggest comedic talents in the industry. The film, which is average, is elevated by its actors, it's dialogue and it's more emotional moments addition to the more unique prospects in the story.
The film is very cliche in its overall story, a formula mostly used in romcoms like this. It is also far longer than it should be.
Overall, with a cliche story, it still ends up being better than the average romantic comedy even though it does not really reinvent the wheel.
Rating: 7.5 (B).
