Review of Training Day (2001) by Don S — 17 Jun 2011
Well, let's start by saying I expected more from this movie. I felt I had seen it before and done better. Denzel Washington has such command of his craft that he is convincing in every role he chooses, but he plays such a lowlife that when the end arrives you are almost grateful it goes down the way it does.
Ethan Hawke is not quite as believable as the naive rookie, but is not all bad. The story is a fairly routine bad cop story, and the violence in this film is excessive. This is a mediocre film with actors who deserve better scripting.
