Review of Training Day (2001) by Paul P — 17 Dec 2011
The movie takes place on Mars more than it does planet Earth but sometimes that doesn't matter. I really don't know how all this works. The plot is so insane and over the top. Denzel is fully committed to going over the top without winking to the camera and this is one of his best performances.
And to counter him they have Ethan Hawke in maybe his best performance going low key. It shouldn't work but the movie does. Fuqua's style is relentless but I got on board.
