Review of Training Day (2001) by Marcus N — 05 Apr 2013
To begin off Training Day by Fuqua is a fast paced full throttle ride that leads with some of the best and some of the upcoming at the time. Denzel is dynamite on the screen which can only be followed by such a promising, focused, determined young acor in Hawke its quite engaing watching them if I do say so.
Denzel and Hawke have the chemistry to a standard that not many can provide so swiftly and with visceral meaning. Point to Avery for the script coming from a fast paced style with this happening and that happening keeps you entertained, and never to wonder when is this gonna end.
Academys were in order for Denzel, and he rightfully won. He showed what a ruthless shady SOB can be with great intrigue and really showed what crooked means to a cop like him. This movie is well made, great performances, good story equals it to be a solid piece of filmmaking not great cinema.
It cleared a way for Fuqua to see what he could do.
