Review of Training Day (2001) by Eric E — 31 Jul 2013
Denzel is what makes this movie great. No area in particular is weak, but by comparison to his performance you could argue as much. Hawke is upstaged for sure but not miscast. The number of cameos was confusing and the third act leaves a little to be desired, but the way the film convinces you a character like Alonzo could (or must) exist in LA makes up for any other shortcomings.
