Fantastic Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawk film. Fantastic.
I disagree with the director's commentary about the final scene - it's too much for a seemingly-realistic, dark, gritty, police corruption tale, but that was the only sour note, and it couldn't put a dent in how good this movie is.
(I happened to watch it in a theater in Honolulu not long after 9/11. That made the impact of a tough-nosed, pretty downer movie even more striking. Not a fun, fun, fun cotton-candy smiles and rainbows Hollywood story. It's dark, and darn good....).
