Review of Training Day (2001) by Cristian R — 09 Sep 2010
Denzel Washington gives one hell of a performance as a rogue detective working with Jake, a rookie cop played by Ethan Hawke. The film features many great cameo appearences from rappers including Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, also from Cliff Curtis and Charlotte Ayanna.
The plot of Training Day is very intense, from trying drugs, investigating houses, and gang activity. Although the plot is intense, a few twists and turns slows down the movie towards the middle of the film but the ending sums it all up from the bad timing.
One scene I loved was when everyone in the neighborhood noticed how Alonzo was a bad guy and they turn on him by standing by Jake's side. This scene is amazing because the audience is relieved and can predict Alonzo's future.
The setting and gang costumes stay true to the reality nature of "living in the streets." Training Day is one tough thriller with a good cast and a realism storyline.
