Review of Training Day (2001) by Ben G — 13 Sep 2010
Training Day is one of the best cop movies that has come into play in the 21st century. Denzel Washington is one of my favorite actors, and this is what I think personally, is his best performance as an actor.
Jake (Ethan Hawke) and Alanzo (Denzel Washington), are two Los Angeles narcotic police officers who are complete opposites. Jake is a rookie who has a young girl and a wife, and is scheduled to be reviewed by Alanzo, who is a ghetto veteran who can put Jake on the force. Things get complicated when Jake starts to question Alanzo's methods as a cop, and starts to figure out who the real enemy is.
Throughout the film, Denzel Washington stole the show, in his Oscar winning performance. Ethan Hawke also did a great job and contributes to Washingtons success. The duo had great chemistry, which resulted in a good film.
If you like action movies about cops such as The Departed, or Narc, Training Day is right up your alley.
