Review of Training Day (2001) by Archibald T — 22 Mar 2011
I would call this a classic in the cop genre. The set up has been done before, but for some reason it's so much more effective in this film. Washington creates a really great character out of Alonso.
Making him complex and really to the point where you can't stand him. Also what makes this a classic in the genre is how easy it is to get into the film. In the first 5 minutes, it doesn't get boring and you want to watch the whole thing.
That's what some films in this genre forget to be.
