Review of Train to Busan (2016) by Brian S — 24 Dec 2018
This Korean film is a truly different and respectable new breed of zombie horror. I haven't seen a zombie flick this good in a long time, and it makes me want to seek out more hidden gems of the genre.
It's like Night of the Living Dead (1968), mixed with Murder on the Orient Express (2017). It's a nail-biting, creepy action-horror pic, supported by good performances from the cast, and also has a heavy emotional weight to it, which isn't very common in this type of movie.
Like the earlier Romero films, it's also clearly satirical on the decadence of capitalism, as well as the nature of man, when it comes to survival. All blended in with some bloody, zombie thrills, to make for one of the best entries in the genre in recent years.
