Review of Train to Busan (2016) by Darian T — 03 Oct 2016
If you're a zombie-apocalypse aficionado like me, and have watched a zillion zombie films, then frankly there's absolutely NOTHING NEW in this film that you'd not have already seen in some other zombie movie or video-game (for e.g. 28 Days Later, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, World War Z, Biozombie, Resident Evil 0, Walking Dead: The Game, etc.) THAT SAID, TtB still managed to move and entertain me, in large part due to its tight script, brilliant acting, and good production values.
Overall score: 8.5/10.
-- Script/Direction: A.
Plenty of thrills and feels. Enough to suspend my disbelief and ignore a few questionable plot elements.
-- Cast/Acting: A.
The only weak link is that pregnant lady who was not very convincing being pregnant. Props to the zombie actors.
-- Production/Effects: A.
Nice job on the (re-)animated deer at the film's start...at least I hope it's animated and no real animals were harmed.
-- Bonus/Bias: +10%.
Because I just like undead things and settings that depict the end of this ridiculous world.
