Review of Trading Places (1983) by Steve G — 17 Jul 2008
A classic Eddie Murphy flick! And it's aged remarkably well too. So many hysterical moments, mainly thanks to Eddie. I love watching the way his character slowly changes into exactly the person the old guys predicted -- a decent bit of acting on Eddie's part.
Everyone does a fairly good job, thanks to a great script and good direction. The Dukes' and Winthorp's world is sumptuously portrayed, beautiful and cold. Putting Eddie into it is a great comedy in itself, but the whole nature vs.
nurture takes the movie up a notch. I could have done without Dan's drunken Santa though -- that was just disgusting.
