Review of Trading Places (1983) by Guido S — 08 Sep 2013

Eddie Murphy plays a poor hustler who, through a bet, is brought into a firm in place of wealthy young Dan Aykroyd. The setup is a little hokey, but it somehow works with them bumping into each other then Murphy being hauled off to jail.

Then Aykroyd gets framed for stealing and they set him up with a hooker played by Jamie Lee Curtis. The film stumbles at this point, as the jokes don't come enough nor is there enough drama until Aykroyd comes back to claim his spot and works with Murphy to bring down the people who brought them into this situation.

The film ends pretty well with their plan to take all their money by rigging the market a little, but there wasn't enough funny parts to make this a classic..
