Review of Toyland (2007) by Thomas W — 03 Mar 2009
It's not surprising to me that this one won the Oscar for best short (foreign and short categories tend to lean toward Holocaust stories) but I don't think it deserved it. It's well-done from a cinematic and acting standpoint, but the plotline was predictable, the dialogue was a bit cliched, and the ending was just sappy.
Things like this happened during the Holocaust undoubtedly, but the film, while good, is nothing extraordinary.
