Review of Toy Story 4 (2019) by Narniopunk — 04 Jul 2019

Dissapointed to see how the smart, bad ass, resourceful and heroic characters I grew up to admire from this franchise have been reduced to bad jokes on this sequel. The way the plot just ridicules all of the male characters in such a shameless way throughout the entire film is just absurd and wrong. Feminists and SJWs really have to stop forcing their ideology into these kinds of films, I mean, these movies are for children, what kind of role models are they trying to give the boys of this generation?

Just look at the insecurity in Woody's behavior and the weird shallow personality of Buzz lightyear, the mental instability and helplessness of Duke Caboom, just to name a few. Also, the female antagonist being treated like a queen by her big spooky server male bodyguards, the fact that none of the male characters does anything truly heroic across the film, leaving all of the action to Bo Peep and the rest of the female characters instead, etc. I could go on but the point is that the plot has so obviously and annoyingly been forced to tell the story in a way that takes all of the leadership, intelligence, self determination and autonomous behavior away from the male characters, bestowing it upon their female counterparts in such an unnatural way that just isn't fair, and to me has nothing to do with equality. It is just wrong. Just to clarify, I don't believe that there's anything wrong with girls also being heroes in storytelling, what I believe is that it just should be done in a way that's balanced for both. Otherwise it's just a sick way of taking revenge at innocent children: Teaching boys that they are useless, dumb, and weak is not the way to go. Please wake up. This world doesn't need that kind of hate, there's no need to "invert" every story now so that the girls are the only ones who think and rule and take the lead. Instead, we need to teach children that we're in this together, partners in crime, helping each other in this beautiful struggle that life is. Dear SJWs, there's no hate in my words, with all the love in my heart I ask you, just think about all of this for a moment, think for yourself, hating against boys in a context as innocent as a Toy Story movie is just not the way to go.
