Review of Toy Story 3 (2010) by Henry P — 28 Aug 2015

To infinity and beyond! When a sequel takes 12 years to get to the big screen, you think "Ahhhh! Bull(Deleted) is coming!!!!" Well prepare to have your expectations squashed and defiled beyond recognition, because Andy's toys (A select few that made it to Andy's going off to college) are back: Sheriff Woody (Tom Hanks): Here. Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen): Here. Potato Head, Mr. and Mrs. (Don Rickles and Estelle Harris): Here. Slinky dog (Replacing the late Jim Varney with Blake Clark), Jessie (Joan Cusack), Rex (Shawn Wallace), and Hamm (Voiced by Pixar charm John Ratzenberger): Here. They're all that's left, and through spoilery mishaps, they end up at Sunnyside Daycare, which seems groovy at first, with a charming leader teddy-bear named Lotso (Ned Beaty), a groovy Ken (Michael Keaton) and a whole new world of characters that seem nice at first, but things get awry as they always do in movies, from Buzz falling out the window, to Woody being taken. Now if you look for it, you will not find anything that doesn't belong in this film, and it is crystal clear, looking like you can see and touch it as Pixar intended, but you just get absorbed into the story, again, like they intended. Even if this is your first Toy Story, you will find a reason to fall in love with these characters, but be warned, tears will be shed. Whether it's the dialogue and development through their actions that convinces us these characters are people, I mean, toys you should care about, or Randy Newman's choice score and healthy dose of lyrical songs that keep Toy Story from being the musical Disney first wanted it to be (True story, look it up), Pixar proves to us that if you do everything right, a sequel can go to infinity and beyond. Now ride like the wind, and feel the love!

We waited 10 years, 6 months, 4 weeks, and 2 Days for Toy Story 3. It was originally under development in Circle 7 animation after Disney and Pixar's Disagreements. Now, it's Pixar's highest grossing movie, and my second favorite Pixar movie (Behind The Incredibles). First off, the characters were just as lovable as in the first two movies. You had Woody the Cowboy, Jessie, Bullseye, Buzz Lightyear, and all of Andy's other toys that were left after all the years, alongside new toys from sunnyside daycare, including a Ken for Barbie, and a pink teddy bear that smells like strawberries, who seems nice, but is a real bleephole. Und the plot where they had to break out of a daycare center to be very creative, with the toys overcoming obsticles we could easily pass. I also loved the animation, and how real the textures and people looked with it. It was also nice to see the return of Randy Newman for the series, with both charming scores, and original songs, as well as a spanish version of "You got a friend in Me". In the end, Toy Story 3 iswhat CGI animation should be, but sadly isn't always the case.
