Review of Toy Story (1995) by Wesley W — 21 Jul 2015
A fantastic film in every way imaginable. Toy Story is not only one of the best animated films I have ever seen, it is also a film that really does live up to the extreme hype and praise it has. This film marks the start of one of the best animation studios Pixar and it is slam dunk bulls-eye of a start for them.
A major thing this film has started was the reign of every other computer animated film to come out afterwards. This is one of those movies where I found myself to have a smile on my face during the entire time watching it and it succeeds at putting you in a cheerful and happy mood after it ends.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are an absolute perfect pair in this franchise and their voice acting is always on fire every time you hear them speak. Woody and Buzz Lightyear make for such memorable and loving characters to watch and all of the emotional and comedic moments with them work really well.
For being a movie about toys, it could have came off as a movie that was just meant for children, but it most definitely did not turn out that way at all and it came out to be a movie that anybody in the world can love and adore.
All the other characters as well bring personality and fun to this wonderful movie. Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, The toy army men, Andy and the other toys all brought something to the screen and were great additions to the cast.
Sid made for a great villain in this film and was a great threat for some of the main characters to face. The pacing of the movie was flawless throughout because it is a movie that always feels like it is moving along really nicely and there is always something interesting going on.
The dialogue was smartly written throughout and the humor was always present. You feel the bond between the all the toy characters and their bond is as strong as a group of humans are. In the end, I found zero negatives and a whole lot of positives with this wonderful family film and I don't see any real reason why somebody would dislike the film.
