Review of Toy Story (1995) by Quinten P — 16 Sep 2013
Toy Story.
I may be a bit biased in my review, considering that Toy Story's 1 and 2 were literally my childhood growing up. I had Woody, Buzz, Slinky, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, and even a few of the little Alien guys, but I certainly don't think I'm alone in saying that Toy Story 1 was an innovative and awe inspiring piece of children's film making when it was released and it is a timeless classic today. Toy Story set the standard for almost all modern animated films and gave us what a children's movie should be, a heart-warming, inspiring story backed by morals that children and adults can appreciate. I know its extremely common for nearly every children's movie nowadays to claim that they are enjoyable to watch for both kids and adults, but no one really pulls off the concept as well as the fine people at Pixar in nearly every film they release. This is never so evident as it is with their Toy Story series, the Toy Story films present simple childhood morals such as friendship, forgiveness, compassion and acceptance but play them out in a very adult manor, usually involving quite adult revenge, jealousy and emotionally conflicted motivess.
In the most simplified description, Toy Story is a story of one toy ripped from the lime light of his young owners affection by a more modern toy and his modern replacements similar fall from grace into excessive imaginary tea abuse induced hysteria and their choice to forget their differences and join together to return to their former glory, bringing them closer together as friends in the process. I can not say enough about how incredibly wonderful this film was and how impactful it was on my life as a child and to this timeless visionary and uplifting work of film-based art, I appoint a 5 out of 5. For the Snake In My Boot Help Line, this is The Truth You Can't Handle, signing off.
