Review of Toy Story (1995) by Daniel R — 13 Jun 2016
This is probably the best pixar film of all time. not only did this film revolutionize the animation industry, but is the standard of how animated films are measured. CGI movies before toy story were not as impressive as this besides Jurassic Park or Terminator 2, and to see that the first fully CGI movie was for the whole family is just an impressive feat.
I grew up with this film and every now and then I put it on and to this day not only is this still my favorite animated film, but it is one of my favorite films period. the writing in this film is the strength in this film.
the writers try so hard to give every character a motivation and an understanding that makes them feel real even when the cast is mostly toys. the characters, what can I say these are some of the best animated characters of all time.
seeing the two leads (Woody and Buzz Lightyear) fight together like this is hilarious. now the animation here is a bit dated which I can understand. this was the first fully CGI film and there are going to be problems like this, particularly with the human characters.
but as for the toys themselves, I still think the toy animation has aged well. as I said this is my all time favorite pixar film, animated film and one of my favorite films of all time and I hold it so precious and close to me.
