Review of Tower Heist (2011) by Paul P — 30 Jun 2012
Brett Ratner in entertaining film shocker....
Strangely enough, a lot of the film's success doesn't really arise from the direction or story telling and more to do with the high callibre casting who could take this material and make something interesting and fun to watch. Stiller has the difficult role of playing the straight man to everyone else, with Broderick in particular bringing the funny and Murphy turning up throwing out amusing one liners and grabbing the spotlight each time with a real ease (hearing him say bobby pin had me cracking up for example). Tea Leone is on very good form too (quite why she isn't a bigger star is beyond me). The whole heist element of the film is throwaway at best but when you have this cast together, its always watchable and good fun....
