Review of Tower Heist (2011) by Francisco R — 20 Jan 2013
Tower Heist is a fantastic movie that I've been waiting for a long time to watch, it turned out to be just as I expected... amazing, I just loved this movie, it has a great cast, a great soundtrack, it's hilarious, entertaining and smart, I can assure you that Tower Heist is one of the best comedy movies ever made and it's personally one of my favorite movies, I really recommend you to watch it, you'll have a great time and for the first time in several years, you won't feel any regret of watching a movie with Eddie Murphy. From all the comedies mixed up with crime and action, I would say that this was my second favorite one after The Other Guys, cause this movie has really what we want, it has the sort of Horrible Bosses development that I love, a group of ordinary guys with the help of an ex-con try to make a thing that they've never imagined to do and besides that there's also the fantastic comedy/action details that we love. Sow, I do understand why some people didn't like it, this is not the perfect comedy, but I just really loved it, I mean, I'm not a stupid and I'm a person with a good taste for movies I guess and I can say that this is a very good movie, I think it would be possible to get the "other" star, seriously, I think it could, I 'm not one of those persons who think that the limit for a comedy rate must be a four and a half. Sow, I loved this movie, you should watch it if you haven't. Fantastic movie.
Brett directs this movie very well, he did a great job with the characters and the movie it self. Ben Stiller takes the lead role, he defenitly doesn't play the funniest role of his entire career, but I really enjoyed the character he played, his perfomance and his jokes, he played more of those kinds of guys who have to just handle the douchbagery of the other people, like Paul Rudd as Tim in Dinner for Schmucks, well, I thought so, but when I watched the movie that just got aways, he actually had a really diferent role from what I thought and he made me laugh more than just once, he was really good and funny in Tower Heist, Ben is known from my eighth favorite movie, wich is Meet the Parents, he is also known from my ninth favorite movie, wich is Little Fockers, he is also known from Meet the Fockers, The Cable Guy, Duplex, Madagascar, Night at the Museum and some other movies. Eddie Murphy was really great here, he's best movie in years, he was really funny and great at his acting and he was the "Zach" of this movie, he was really hilarious and his role was all about that, really, I just don't say that Eddie is really back because of his new A Thousand Words, but whathever, Eddie was incredible here, one of his best movies and probably his best movie of the decad, Eddie is known from Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, Shrek Forever After, A Thousand Words, Imagine That, Showtime, I Spy, The Nutty Professor and some other movies. Casey Affleck is great in here, he was funnier than I thought and he had a good perfomance, Casey is known from Gone Baby Gone, Good Will Hunting, Ocean's Eleven and some other movies. Alan Alda is great here with a manipulating role, he had a really cruel character but I enjoyed to see him here as the bad guy of the movie, Alan is known from M*A*S*H, The Aviator, Wanderlust, What Women Want and some other movies. Matthew Broderick is great here, I really liked his perfomance and he could make me laugh, Matthew is known from The Cable Guy, Deck the Halls and some other movies. Teá Leoni was okay at her role, she didn't play a really character that could make us laugh but she was fine, Teá is known from Fun with Dick and Jane, Spanglish, The Family Man and some other movies. Michael Peña is okay here, he was really funny at times like his B.K. joke, wich I found out to be hilarious, but he was probably a bit to supportive in this movie to be really hilarious, so he was just great, but I think he could be a bit better if was a bit less supportive, Michael is known from Battle: Los Angeles, Observe and Report and some other movies. Sow, as you can see, this movie has an excellent cast, it's really amazing, I love almost all the actors in here and none of them disapointed me and none of them made me not laugh. Excellent cast.
Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) is the manager of a building in New York, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda), the financer soon gets arrested by fraud at his penthouse apartmen, the same building. Josh, Charlie (Casey Affleck), Mr. Fitzugh (Matthew Broderick) are three of the guys who soon vanish from the bulidng because of Mr. Show, who robbed 20 million dollars from his workers. All these three guys including the new elevator guy Enrique Dev'Reaux (Michael Peña) just certainly decide to rob those 20 million. They join the ex-con Slide (Eddie Murphy), a thief from Josh's neighborhood who will give them some help with the robbery. The heist is going to be much harder than they thought it was going to be. Ordinary guys. An extraordinary robbery.(What I thought about the plot) I loved the plot, I'm probably the only one who noticed that this movie has lots of similliar things to Horrible Bosses (My favorite movie), wich I loved because this movie's script has almost nothing to do with Horrible Bosses, I just loved the same concept, ordinary guys with the help of an ex-con try to do an extraordinary thing, I really liked this movie's plot and it worked really well on the movie. Fantastic plot.
Soundtrack, well, who knew, this movie also has an excellent soundtrack, right at the beginnin there's the starting of a great theme created for this movie, I really enjoyed it, they joined it some other themes to it and I enjoyed to here all of them, they really took care of everything, even the soundtrack was really good, at least I thought it was great. There was probably some less action than I thought, but there was some enjoyable action scenes at least, I mean this is a comedy and not an action movie entirely, but yes, they did join two or three good action scenes.
Besides all that, I am now going to tell you what I really thought about this movie. First of all, I think I've made myself very clear, this movie does not suck even a bit, I loved almost everything from it, it couldn't aescape from one or two cliches but the rest is just incredibly, I can harly believe that several people disliked it and that this movie only could get a 6.3 on IMDb, cause I think it should get more credit, it was one of the best comedies of the year and not so many people enjoyed it. I'm telling you, if you haven't watched it, do yourself a favor and do it, this movie is really worth being watched, I had an excellent time trust me, this is really now one of my favorite movies. Overall, I loved it, you should watch it if you haven't, it has a fantastic cast, a fantastic plot, a great soundtrack and it's very entertaining, highly recommended. Tower Heist: 8.9/10. Fantastic.
