Review of Tower Heist (2011) by Jwee Chiek E — 23 Nov 2013
The story is obviously based on the shocking Madoff ponzi wealth management scheme that went bust. Although the film attempts to garner sympathy for the 'little people' for entrusting all their life savings to Alan Alda hoping to score big on a pot of easy money.
But alas when all went awry, Ben Stiller felt it was his God given right to be Robin Hood to steal the golden Ferrari to save the poor little people... Sure it feels good that the little people win against the greedy rich monsters.
But in our hard hitting real life, investment is undoubtedly a gamble and nobody puts a gun to our heads to gamble our money. If we lose, there will be no Ben Stiller to steal that golden Ferrari to give us the golden steering wheel.
