Review of Tower Heist (2011) by Trent P — 07 Jan 2014

I've wanted to see this movie for a long time and now that I finally have, I can safely say that I am satisfied. This movie was funny, had a simple enough story but it was one you could get behind, really get invested in and had a kick ass ensemble cast.

The cast of this movie is what made it, it could have been made with other people but wouldn't have had the same impact. This has to be one of my favorite casts in any movie, everyone had a funny line and a couple of funny scenarios with Ben Stiller getting the most because he's the main character (of sorts).

It's nice to see a comedy that actually makes me laugh, Ive seen a few 'comedies' recently that haven't made me laugh at all but this movie was so funny that I was laughing so loud I couldn't even hear what anyone was saying and that hasn't happened since I saw the amazing Big Lebowski which was almost a year ago now.

Everyone was funny, everyone brought something to the table with the standout of course being Eddie Murphy, I actually saw him as a character for once, as opposed to just him in another movie, even if he was a little aggressive.

I actually had my heart in my stomach for a few scenes, namely the ones to do with buildings and elevators and I don't remember the last time that happened. It's fun fluff that won't change your life but its good and for a Brett Ratner film that's saying something.

Not to be rude to the guy because he has grown on me in recent years with his best film being The Family Man, but he's made some pretty good stuff too. This film definitely isn't bad as the audience rating is showing off, I mean, what the heck? Y'know, if you didn't like a movie, I'm not gonna attack you or anything but it's seriously that low? That many people didnt like it? I'm shocked, it made a killing in the box office and critics actually liked it? What's going on here.

I couldn't really find a consensus as to why people didnt like it, so I am shocked.
