Review of Towelhead (2008) by Aaron G — 14 Sep 2008
Weird, often uncomfortable and always unsettling. The golden oldies seated behind me walked out (SPOILER?) during a scene in which a bloody tampon was plunged from the toilet. And the thuggish youngster to my front left during a scene of pedophiliac hymen-bursting, digital stimulation.
Felt like Ball was simply being provocative for provocative's sake with this one. While "Six Feet" and "American Beauty" were also provocative, both of those also had heart, underlying morals, and--most importantly--a compelling storyline behind them.
This just felt like a Todd Solondz picture.
