Review of Towelhead (2008) by Barbara R — 25 Jan 2009
Disturbing look at how a young girl without guidance can passively fall into situations over her head with lasting repercussions while looking for love and acceptance. Although it's much too graphic to show to young teenagers, it would help to show them the dangers (and joys) that lie in wait.
Maybe it's meant more as a lesson to parents - and although it's painful, I recommend all my friends with kids to see it. It will jolt you into spending more time with your children, even as they try to push you away.
Alan Ball did it again, as he did with Six Feet Under- ripping back the curtain to help us deal with critical things our society has deemed too shameful or too painful to discuss.
